Local lakes and rivers rise with latest rainfall

DAM B - NECHES RIVER From 1:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, the Neches River rose 14.52 feet, going from 60.0’ to 74.52’ in that 12 hour period. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers website reported that as of Monday afternoon, Dam B stood at 84.01 feet, while the normal upper pool elevation is 83.00 feet. The Corps of Engineers website also said that as of Monday afternoon, Dam B was releasing 37,500 cubic feet of water per second. The following announcement came from Tyler County Emergency Management late Monday afternoon: Tyler County Emergency Management is announcing that the Corps of Engineers at Dam B will be opening the gates causing the Neches River to rise to between 78 and 79 ft. Tyler County Emergency Management and the Tyler County Judge are recommending a voluntary evacuation of Barlow Lake Estates, Sheffield Ferry, and Mount Neches and any other areas that areas that are low lying prone to flooding.
