Following the shooting at Austin-East Magnet High School, the governor s tweet has since blown up. The officer who was shot was reportedly an Austin-East school resource officer and has been taken to a local hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery. The school was placed in lockdown, which has now been lifted and students reunited with their families. The school has reportedly seen three gun-related deaths over the last three weeks. At the time, Lee s permitless gun carry was not yet the law. The law will come into effect only on July 1.

Gov. Bill Lee offered his prayers to the victims of Monday s shooting near Austin-East High School. I want to ask those who are watching online or otherwise to pray for that situation and for the families and victims that might be affected in our state, Gov. Lee said while speaking to the media.
A student and police officer were shot, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation who is not authorized to speak about it.
Knox County School Superintendent Bob Thomas tweeted the school has been secured, and a reunification site has been set up at a nearby baseball field.
