KNOXVILLE, Tenn. A nationally-known civil rights and personal injury attorney is now representing the family of Anthony Thompson, the teenager killed last week at Austin-East Magnet High School (A-E) in Knoxville.
Ben Crump, who also represents the families of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and Jacob Blake, posted on Twitter Monday that Anthony Thompson s family had retained him to represent them and advocate for justice.

Though police have disclosed a few details regarding the events leading to Thompson’s death, the circumstances remain unclear, and now that police say a bullet from Thompson’s gun did not in fact hit a police officer, contradicting original reports, suspicion and unrest grows in Knoxville.

Anthony J. Thompson Jr., 17, was shot and killed by officers who were responding to reports of an armed individual at the school.
Four officers located Thompson and confronted him in the restroom. A struggle over Thompson s gun broke out, and it discharged once. The officers responded by firing two shots. Officer
Adam Wilson was shot during the altercation and taken to the hospital, where he is recovering following surgery.
The TBI said that the bullet that struck Wilson was not fired from Thompson s gun. The agency did not say who shot Wilson, or if one officer fired twice, or if the two gunshots were fired by different officers.
