Why is the Commission proposing to introduce online visa applications?

The European Commission proposed on 27 April the digitalisation of the Schengen visa process, replacing the visa sticker, and introducing the possibility to submit visa applications online through the European online visa platform.

From late 2022, eligible nationals of some foreign countries will require a special permit to enter the countries of the European Union. The permit is known as ETIAS or ETIAS visa waiver.

The EBAA has requested clarification on whether Part 91 operators, will be included amongst the carriers impacted by the eu-LISA programme set to launch over the next two years.
