The Maybole By-Pass has made an enormous change to the town centre. By removing the through traffic, the town centre has become quiet and clean. See [[7102541]] for a 2022 view of the High Street. [[6228850]] shows what it was like before.

What started off as a big muddy puddle at the beginning of the by-pass work has now become a balancing pond, an important part of the drainage and flood control system. [[6257873]] shows an early view.
