Ag News: Autumn Glory Apples Top-20 and Rural COVID Cases Autumn Glory® apple shipments were up in November, and recent Nielsen data confirms impressive November sales.
According to thepacker.com, Autumn Glory, by Domex Superfresh Growers, placed in the top 20 not only nationally, but in all nine Nielsen regions.
Nielsen data for four weeks ending November 28th show Autumn Glory sales were up 88% and volume was up 78% year over year.
Organic Autumn Glory sales were up 559%, and up 575% in volume. Farm organizations say they’ll continue efforts to conserve monarch butterfly habitat.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says it will defer for a year adding the monarch to a list of federally protected species.
Sizable volume jump in Autumn Glory supplies
Supplies of the Autumn Glory apple are up significantly this season. Harvest came early this year for the Autumn Glory.
The apple, grown in Washington State by Domex Superfresh Growers, is up 20 percent in conventional supplies and up 55 percent in organic volume. “We have the largest volume we’ve had so far as we continue to build our volume and plant more trees,” says Cat Gipe-Stewart, communications manager with Domex Superfresh.
The increase in organics is particularly of note. “We’ve had a significant amount transition to organics this year,” says Gipe-Stewart. “That opens us up to other natural-type markets as well. We’ll run organic pretty heavy through the New Year and then conventionally, at the moment we’re looking to have volume through the spring.”
