During the Division II regional track meet in Lexington, Ohio, Oak Harbor senior Peyton Bloomer and Genoa senior Noah Koch came back with championships.

Despite the Eastwood girls track championship at the Northern Buckeye Conference meet, Woodmore’s Olivia Vogelpohl got Athlete of the Year and her teammate Azure Travis got Track Athlete of the Meet.

In voting for Alan Miller Jewelers All-Press Girls Basketball Player of the Year, two 5-foot-10 senior guards, Delani Robinson (Lake) and Ryann Steinbrick (Oak Harbor) got all of the votes except one.

The five seniors on Lake’s girls basketball team are so athletic, that all five will play collegiate sports.

With the kind of athleticism he has, Lake girls basketball coach Joe Nowak often sends his players into the game four, five at a time, in waves, or lines, as they say in hockey.

Oak Harbor senior Peyton Bloomer started high-jumping in the seventh grade, mostly because her older sister, Ally, did the same event some years before her.

Once again, Lake girls basketball plans to use coach Joe Nowak’s style of applying defensive pressure on their opponents.

Although he is trying to build a balanced team, Lake track coach Jason Schober says his sprinters are his team’s strength.

In a poll by Northern Buckeye Confer-ence girls basketball coaches, Elmwood was picked to win the league title, getting 57 voting points, including three first place votes.

Woodmore juniors Macey Bauder and Alayna Hahn were the first to score this season against Eastwood, but it came after the Eagles recorded nine straight consecutive shutouts.
