Aptos High's girls track and field team won seven events and benefitted from its depth to win the team title at the SCCAL Championships at Soquel High on Monday.

Scotts Valley High senior Ashlyn Boothby turned in one of the most exciting finishes at the 43rd CCS Top 8 Invite at Los Gatos High on Saturday. And with it, her immediate future on the track is tentative.

Soquel senior Braylon Noble, an all-Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League talent in football and basketball, continued to prove himself as Santa Cruz County's top all-around athlete. He took second place in the decathlon on Day 2 of the prestigious Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High on Saturday.

Scotts Valley High's girls track and field team won three races and posted top-five finishes in four events at the Firebird Relays at Fremont High in Sunnyvale on Saturday.

Santa Cruz County produced three top-10 finishers -- Santa Cruz junior Eli Fitchen-Young, Scotts Valley senior Ashlynn Boothby, and Archbishop Mitty junior Evie Marheineke -- at the CIF State Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Ashlyn Boothby made it look easy, again.
