The FBI is now joining in the investigation into a missing 5-year-old Ames girl.

Authorities are searching for 5-year-old Avery Doherty. She is 45 pounds and 4-foot, 5-inch tall with blond hair and blue eyes. She is believed to be with her non-custodial mother, Esther Bender.
