USGS raises the aviation color code to ORANGE and alert level to WATCH as a volcano located in Alaska explodes.

The USGS continues to monitor volcanoes around the country; due to recent activity, four of them have been upgraded to WATCH / ORANGE status. The

Previously, the USGS had four volcanoes on Orange / Watch status, but now there are six. Six of the USGS's 161 active volcanoes are of major concern. More than 160 potentially active volcanoes are monitored by the USGS in the United States, most of which are located in Alaska.

The USGS and its Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) have raised the alert level and color code to the YELLOW / ADVISORY at Alaska's Davidof Volcano due to the odds of volcanic unrest. A swarm of earthquakes hit around the Davidof volcano over the previous three days, according to AVO.

Except for Hawaii's Mauna Loa, which remains at a YELLOW / ADVISORY status, all other volcanoes monitored by the USGS today are GREEN or unrated.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) had currently tracked US active volcanoes exhibiting eruptions risks, with elevated unrest above known background level, and posted Orange code and Watch alert for one volcano and a Yellow code and an Advisory alert for six others across the country.
