Amid the countdown to the touchdown, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has shared some fresh images of the Moon which have been taken by Chandrayaan-3 lander.

The latest images of the Moon taken by the Chandrayaan-3's lander identified some of the prominent craters on its far side, which always faces away from the Earth.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Monday shared images of the moon from the far side area captured on August 19.

Former ISRO director K Sivan has expressed confidence that the upcoming soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of the Moon will be a success. This follows the spinning out of control of Russias Luna-25 moon mission, which failed after crashing into the Moon. Chandrayaan-3 is expected to land on August 23 2023, one of its objectives being the safe and soft landing of a rover on the Moons surface.

As news of the failure of Russia's lunar mission broke, India said Chandrayaan-3 was on course for a moon landing this week.
