Hoppy Dude Brews set to open in May, tips the cap to the military and staying local

HINCKLEY, Ohio – The nickel tour at Hoppy Dude Brews won’t take long. As a matter of fact you won’t have to move much. The brewery’s tiny one-barrel system is tucked into a 600-square-foot space on Ridge Road just north of Ohio 303.
What else didn’t take long was the idea for the owners to start a brewery, which they plan to open Friday, May 14.
In 2019, Keith Clapper said his pal Chad Riffle got a home-brew kit. The brewing bug was quickly contagious. On New Year’s Eve that year, Clapper recalled, he told Riffle: “I always wanted to brew beer, I’ve always been interested in it, but I thought it would be cool to do it with somebody so I could learn with somebody. I’m buying one tonight.”
