The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has assured newly appointed Nigerian ambassadors of its support in their quest to attract foreign investors and foreign direct investments to Nigeria from their respective countries of accreditation.
The Director General of NACCIMA, Ambassador Ayoola Olukanni, gave this assurance when he spoke during the induction and training programme organised for the envoys in Abuja, recently, as they prepared to depart for duties abroad.
Olukanni, who served as a career diplomat and was a former High Commissioner of Nigeria to Australia, advised the principal envoys that working closely with the NACCIMA would help them to succeed in the pursuit of economic diplomacy, which is one of the foreign policy pillars of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The African Continental Free Trade Agreement, AfCFTA, is a continent-wide trade pact aimed at tearing down barriers to commerce among African countries. It is focused on trade liberalisation across the continent and provides for progressive elimination of tariff and non-tariff barriers and development and promotion of regional and continental value chains.
The agreement which came into effect on the 1st of January, 2021, is expected to encourage trade activities by removing tariffs of over 90% of goods traded between member countries.
AfCFTA is expected to drive the integration of African countries into the global economy and enhance their bargaining power in international trade negotiations.

Ehingbeti, the Lagos Economic Summit, will begin tomorrow with notable business leaders and political figures across the globe joining the private sector in setting agenda for Lagos State towards the next decade.

Themed, ‘For a Greater Lagos: Setting The Tone For The Next Decade’, Ehingbeti 2021 has drawn about 150 speakers from across the world to discuss and deliberate on pragmatic optimization of the inherent opportunities in Africa’s 5th largest economy and offer perspectives on how to manage the peculiar socio-economic landscape of Lagos State in the coming decade.

President Muhammadu Buhari; Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu; and the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, will be among the dignitaries that will speak at Ehingbeti, the Lagos Economic Summit, which will begin tomorrow.
