KOHIMA Azhalhou Kire of Alder College Kohima defeated Khrielabeituo Semou of Kohima College to emerge the champion of the second edition of the annual Naga wrestling competition on Saturday. The competition was part of the Alder Fest 2.O organised by Alder College Kohima in collaboration with Kohima Smart City on April 21 and 22 at the college premises. Kedosie Nagi from Sazolie College Kohima bagged the third position after defeating Neingusa Ngukha of Kohima College. A cash award of INR 10,000 was given away to the champion, while INR 5,000 was awarded to the second winner and INR 3,000 to the third winner. The Drags was awarded cash of INR 10,000 and The Hiphopers was awarded cash of INR 5000 for securing the first and second positions respectively in the open crew dance competition. Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 20 (EMN): Kevizhakho Suokhrie dropped Azhalhou Kire twice to win the championship title in the lightweight division at the ongoing NagaWrestleMania-9 (King of the Ring Series 2022) on Thursday evening at IG Stadium complex in Kohima. Suokhrie won the championship belt along with INR 50,000 while Kire received INR 30,000. Mülüsü Veswüh and Seyiezhato Sano received INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 respectively. Reigning Chin lightweight champion from US, Van Ceu Hmung, lost to the eventual champion by a point deficit (2-1) during the pre-quarter final round. Over 40 wrestlers competed for the coveted title.
