Geely Nigeria launches new compact SUV model The Punch Published 12 May 2021 Geely Nigeria, a partnership between Mikano International and Geely Global, has launched a new high-tech and sporty compact SUV model, named ‘Geely Coolray’. The company’s Marketing Manager, Mrs Karima Okunola, at the launch of the car in Ogun State, said Mikano International and Geely Global had come together to build sophisticated, high-tech and affordable cars in Nigeria for the revitalisation of the country’s automotive industry. She added, “Geely Global is China’s largest independent automaker and the owners of Volvo Autos, the largest shareholder in AG Daimler (parent company for Mercedes Benz), owners of Terrafugia, Zeekr, LEVC (makers of the famous electric London black cabs). Geely Autos also owns 50 per cent of Proton and 51 per cent of Lotus, the British race car company.

by Bennett Oghifo Geely Nigeria, the exclusive partnership between Mikano International and Geely Global has released its new high-tech and sporty compact SUV model, the Geely CoolRay, to the Nigerian motoring journalists for a test-drive. The media event, which held on Thursday at the company’s assembly plant, Karameh City along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, was part of the activities marking the car’s official launch into the Nigerian automotive market. At the briefing before the road-test, the company’s Marketing Manager, Mrs. Karima Okunola described the media test-drive as a confirmation of Geely’s adherence to International Best Practice (IBP) of transparency and total product quality management.
