Former Northern Cape ANC chairperson John Block, who is currently serving a 15-year sentence for corruption, is facing new charges in connection with R51 million tender fraud.
The first two defendants who are charged with, among others, fraud, corruption, and money laundering of almost R500 million over the construction contract of the controversial psychiatric hospital in Kimberley, were released on bail.
A former Head of the Department for Roads and Public Works and a director of Babareki Consulting Engineers, who appointed a liquidated contractor on a building project, were arrested for fraud, corruption, and money laundering totalling R420 million.
