‘Truman Capote in Hot Water’ appeared in the February 9, 1976, issue of New York. Liz Smith writes about the society scandal that erupted around Capote’s story “La Côte Basque 1965,” and his rejection by the swans after it was published.

In the 10-part miniseries, writer Jon Robin Baitz and director Gus Van Sant set the scene by showing how Truman Capote had a seat at their table and lost it.
