Biomass resin goes against the grain | Plastics in Packaging

April 15, 2021 The Omega series of extruders A patented technology developed by Indian firm Steer Engineering is to be used for the development of biomass resin, as a potential alternative to oil-based plastics. Steer recently supplied three Omega 60 extruders to Biomass Resin Holdings of Japan, in order to help accelerate the development of compound materials of inedible rice with polyolefin resins, called Rice Resin. Using these compound materials, products such as trash bags, shopping bags, cutlery and toys can be manufactured. The Omega series extruders come with Steer’s patented ‘fractional lobe geometry’ elements, which are designed to enhance process efficiency and output quality. They are also said to enable manufacturers to increase their production capacity by up to 25 per cent due to the increased volume and higher torque capacity.

Recently, the Vanniyar community was granted 10.5 per cent reservation under Most Backward Classes (MBC) leaving another 40 similar communities without any reservation. A joint association of Chettiar communities, Federation of Kongu Chettiars and Sozhliya Chettiar association has announced the boycotting of the upcoming Assembly elections.
