Davis Kickabout in Badger Farm POCKETS of land in Badger Farm including the Davis Kickabout have been sold – but not to the parish council. The community had been fundraising to purchase the plots, which hit the market following the liquidation of building company Davis Development. But the land has instead been snatched up by an unknown buyer. A spokesperson for the parish council said: Badger Farm Parish Council are disappointed we weren’t successful today in purchasing the land known as Davis Kickabout, along with surrounding pockets of land. We don’t know who purchased the land and what plans they may have but we as a parish council intend to work very closely with Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council to preserve this land for the future recreational use of our residents. We will put updates on our website and facebook page as we know more.
A TAPE measure is at the heart of a planning row on a Winchester estate. Marek Bobrowski has applied to convert a garage into living space at his home in Harrow Down and put a parking space on his front lawn. But neighbours have pointed out that the garden is not big enough to hold a vehicle in accordance with council standards. The council policy is that the parking space should be 4.8m but Paul Cooper, of Harrow Down, submitted photos to the committee that showed the space was only 4.1m. Planning officers said according to the submitted plans the garden was big enough but had not physically measured it themselves.
