BAE Systems is set to acquire Ball Corps aerospace assets for $5.55 billion cash, after it outbid defense companies such as General Dynamics and Textron. The deal is expected to close by H1 of 2024 and will be funded through additional debt and existing cash. Ball Corp stated that it would use the proceeds to alleviate $9.7 billion of debt, enhance its packaging business, and return money to its shareholders.
