So far, so good, says Garganera on Cebu City's Covid-19 situation

April 17, 2021 THE number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in Cebu City has gone down in the last two weeks. According to City Councilor Joel Garganera, deputy chief implementer of the City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), the decrease of Covid-19 cases during this period was the reason fewer recoveries were recorded in the last three days. Based on the data of the Department of Health (DOH) 7, the city logged only 17 recoveries in the last three days, or 12 on April 14, four on April 15 and one on April 16. The DOH 7 data showed that Cebu City recorded 893 Covid-19 cases from April 3 to April 16.

Ash Wednesday tweaked vs COVID-19 MANILA, Philippines If one prefers the traditional method of imposing ash on the forehead this Wednesday, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said this is still possible with the use of a cotton ball. In his “Notes on the Ash Wednesday Celebration” to diocesan bishops and administrators, CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Liturgy (ECL) chairman and Baguio Bishop Victor Bendico said there are alternative ways for ashes to be daubed on Catholics even during the coronavirus pandemic. Aside from sprinkling ash on a person’s crown in order to observe physical distancing, Catholic faithful could also have ash imposed in the shape of a cross on the forehead by using cotton.
