Sheriff T.K. Waters held a Sunday News Conference to give an update to a hate crime shooting

The Justice Department is investigating the shooting as a hate crime.

The White Supremacist gunman who killed 3 Black people in Jacksonville, FL targeted an HBCU before the Dollar General mass shooting.

The man was denied entry to Edward Waters University by a security officer, and local law enforcement was alerted.

Palmeter had no criminal record prior to the incident, but had once been held in state custody during a possible mental health episode.

The shooter responsible for killing 3 people in a racially-motivated shooting at a Dollar General in Jacksonville, has been identified as Ryan Christopher Palmeter.

STORY: Palmeter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
