Euronav Orders Two Newbuild VLCCs And One Option To Add A Third
Euronav NV yesterday announced that it has entered into an agreement with the Hyundai Samho yard for two VLCC newbuilding contracts. Sourcing fleet renewal from the newbuilding market has primarily been driven by the aim of Euronav to be at the forefront of innovation in the energy transition and to drive projects with potential to decarbonize the transportation of oil.
The vessels will be LNG-ready and consequently there is an ability to cut CO2 emissions compared to current market standards. Furthermore, Euronav is working in cooperation with the yard and classification society to include an Ammonia-ready notation with the potential to reduce CO2 emissions to zero when technology, logistics and the regulatory framework allows for it. Avenir LNG, a joint venture consisting of Stolt-Nielsen, Hoegh LNG and Golar LNG, has taken delivery of its second 7,500-cbm LNG bunkering vessel Avenir Accolade.

Following delivery from Keppel Offshore and Marine, Nantong, the Avenir Accolade will enter a 3-year bareboat charter to LNG Power
Limited, a unit of Hygo Energy Transition to support Hygo’s developments in Brazil.
Accolade’s positioning marks Avenir’s first entry into the Latin American LNG market, the company said in its statement.
In its statement, Keppel Offshore & Marine noted that, similar to the first vessel delivered to Avenir LNG, the 7,500-cbm Avenir Accolade was built at Keppel Nantong Shipyard in China. It is equipped with engines that can run on both diesel and LNG.
Keppel O&M delivers LNG carrier to the subsidiary of Avenir LNG
Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has successfully delivered its second newbuild Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier, the Avenir Accolade to its owner, a subsidiary of Avenir LNG Limited (Avenir LNG). The LNG carrier can also function as an LNG bunkering vessel (LBV), making it the third LBV that Keppel has delivered, according to the company s release.
The dual-fuel Avenir Accolade attests to Keppel’s growing track record in solutions for the gas value chain and reinforces Keppel’s Vision 2030 to seize opportunities in LNG solutions.
Similar to the first vessel delivered to Avenir LNG, the 7,500m3 Avenir Accolade was built at Keppel Nantong Shipyard in China, and is equipped with engines that can run on both diesel and LNG. Keppel O&M’s technology arm, Offshore Technology Development (OTD), also installed and commissioned the vessel’s Ballast Water Treatment System.
