However, the electronic boards and seating facilities are yet to be opened for the public due to the reasons best known to the authorities concerned. No one working at Putani Express station is ready to explain why these facilities remain inaccessible to the public.
Gratings on the roads are meant for preventing water accumulation during the monsoon to facilitate movement of vehicles without hassle. However, broken and missing gully gratings and concrete around them have become a hurdle for motorists on Race Course Road.
Many added that the gratings, put up to drain water whenever it rains, are damaged and need to be upgraded. The grating put up at the entrance of Hayes Road has become a hurdle for motorists who want to reach Residency Road from Richmond Road. The motorists have to slow down their vehicles while taking the right turn from Richmond Road to Hayes Road due to the uneven grating.

No fixers for Cubbon Park’s broken shelter

Over a month ago, one of the three rain shelters at
Cubbon Park came crashing down after a tree branch fell on it during heavy rain. Now, visitors at the park are alleging that the
Horticulture Department is not showing any interest in restoring the shelter.
The rain shelters were constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh in 2014 amid opposition from environmentalists. Earlier, the Horticulture Department had defended its decision stating that the shelters would benefit visitors, especially senior citizens during monsoon. However, the department now seems to be lacking interest in fixing the damaged shelter located a few hundred meters away from the Chama Raja Wadiyar statue.
