Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio arrested on conspiracy charge in Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection

He was arrested two days before the riot and was ordered to stay out of D.C., but the indictment says he met with the founder and leader of the Oath Keepers in an area parking garage.

Former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio was arrested in Miami and charged with conspiracy in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol riot.

Henry "Enrique" Tarrio, a leader of the far-right Proud Boys extremist group, was arrested Tuesday on a conspiracy charge for his suspected role in a co-ordinated attack on the U.S. Capitol meant to stop Congress from certifying Democrat Joe Biden's 2020 electoral victory. Meanwhile, on Tuesday federal prosecutors won a conviction on all counts in the first trial for a rioter since the attack.

The indictment is a further proof of how far the Justice Department is going to prosecute the leaders of extremist groups whose members are suspected to have planned and attacked the U.S. Capitol, even if they weren’t in attendance themselves.
