STA. CRUZ, Ilocos Sur, May 17 (PIA) – The Department of Science and Technology in the Ilocos (DOST 1), through its Provincial Science and Technology Center - Ilocos Sur (PSTC-IS), conducted a livelihood training on tomato processing at Camanggaan village here on May 14.
DOST, as a member of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC), is implementing the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) program and organized the said training for the tomato growers of barangay Camanggaan to provide them with additional income and alternative livelihood.
A total of 22 farmers were taught how to make tomato ketchup, tomato sauce, tomato salsa, and tomato jam.
