Historic Lockport plantation house now open as B&B
The Bouverans Plantation House in Lockport has been in the Claudet family since it was built in 1860.
The newly renovated house and landscaped surrounding property are now open to the public as a bed and breakfast and outdoor meeting space.
Owners Rene’ and Barbara Claudet raised their family in the house, which was built by Pierre Joseph Claudet, Rene’s great-great-grandfather. The house takes its name from the French town Pierre left to emigrate to Louisiana.
Rene Claudet, who used to own the Quality Hotel in Houma, said the two guest rooms, the Jeannette Room and the Adrianne Room, are named for his daughters, who grew up in them.
