Hours ago. Firefighters had a chance to go into some of the damage from the fire in santa cruz and san mateo counties yesterday. They have confirmed 440 buildings have been destroyed, including 320 homes. On the northern end of the fire in San Mateo County, it is not spreading. That is good news. Firefighters say they are very confident that the fire will not spread toward Santa Clara County, where evacuation warnings had been issued earlier in the week. There are new Evacuation Orders or warnings foot and the counties involved. Near bonnie doon and Boulder Creek, there is a fire that is actively burning. Crews are going into do Damage Assessment, and repair some of the power lines and the infrastructure. That way, eventually people will be able to return home. It is stressful. We are staying at an Extended Stay Hotel with only six other dogs and a cat. 77,000 people were forced to evacuate because of the fire.
