Alonzo Russell, a friend of Pam and Jerome Jackson, will be bringing Motown to Dry Ridge Sept. 17 at the Barnwood Bravo Theater. Russell has been performing for several years, saying he has always been wanting to be in entertainment. He grew up around Chicago and has been working in film and music since the early 2000s, he says. Russell’s show honors those who performed with Motown. “We honor those legends who paved the way,” Russell says, wanting to relive the era and reintroduce the audience to Sam Cooke.
Today, Monday, August 29, Halfway to Hazard, Taylor Austin Dye, Tyler Booth and T. Graham Brown will play “Appalachia Rises: Come Hell or High Water,” a flood relief telethon. The show starts at 7 p.m. and airs on CW Lexington, wkyt.com, wymt.com and wsaz.com.
