It’s no secret that the field of radio has changed significantly. Just in my time on the radio, it went from there needing to be someone at the station 24/7 to satellite and automation. On-Air shifts became less and less, and unless you were a household name (and ultimately that didn’t really matter either), staying on-air seemed impossible, especially when ratings came out. Bald Knob to take bids on building quarantine area at animal shelter

Bald Knob officials are looking to build a quarantine area at the city’s animal shelter, with the City Council approving a motion earlier this week for the city to take bids for the building. Bald Knob Police Chief Larry House told the council that the shelter is in need of a 16-by-24-foot space, with a bathroom and three runs, to quarantine animals. Councilman David Smith reminded House that it also would need a bathing area. “We got a bid on it now from Double J Construction to build it for $22,000,” Smith said. House said there is a drawing of it and he mentioned that according to state law, “you have to quarantine every dog that goes in there for 10 days.”

Bald Knob receives almost $115,000 in CARES Act funds; check arrived Thursday

Bald Knob received $114,777 in CARES Act funds late last week, which Mayor Barth Grayson said “was for payroll reimbursement.” “Our city kept all of our employees working throughout this COVID-19 pandemic,” Grayson said. “Some [other cities] had to furlough or lay workers off.” Grayson gave a special thanks to Clerk/Treasurer Tammy Wools and others who got all the needed information prepared and submitted for the application for the money from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. “A special thanks goes to our state representative, Jim Wooten, for making me aware of these available funds as soon as this was appropriated.” Grayson said.
