All the schools in Baxter were put under a "soft lockdown" Thursday as Putnam County Sheriffs Office deputies were reportedly investigating a domestic incident on Ward Mill Road.

The City of Baxter and the Putnam County School Systems Transportation Department are working together to improve bus safety and the traffic flow around the citys schools.

A growing relationship between the Putnam County School System, Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses was on display recently at Baxter Primary School.

Putnam County Schools Thursday announced its policy for free and reduced-price meals for children served in schools under the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program.
