Bay County Florida EMS chief Mark Bowen retires after nearly 22 years

PANAMA CITY After almost 22 years with the Bay County Emergency Services division, Chief Mark Bowen has decided to retire. There was a special presentation Dec. 15 at the Bay County Commission meeting to celebrate his service. Bowen started in February 1999 and has had to deal with several major crises, including the Deep Horizon BP oil spill, Hurricane Michael and the COVID-19 pandemic. The feeling from people who work for him and Bay County Commissioner Bill Dozier is that he was easy to work with because he was calm and collected. Chief Bowen is the cornerstone of our emergency management and has been for quite some time now, Dozier said. He s going to be missed when he retires and we wish him well in retirement. We know he has some good plans for the future.
