Fellow BBC star Jeremy Vine urged the presenter to publicly identify himself to prevent further reputational damage to the broadcaster.

Ms Flind said her husband is now receiving care in hospital, where he will stay for the foreseeable future.

The BBC has been slammed by one of its former stars for its coverage, after Huw Edwards was named as the presenter at the centre of the cash for sex images scandal.

Wife of BBC anchor Huw Edwards, Vicky Flind, has confirmed the star intends to respond to allegations about his conduct once he is feeling well enough. Her bombshell statement comes after days of public speculation over which BBC presenter - now identified as Huw - allegedly paid a teenager for sexually explicit images.

Huw Edwards is "suffering from serious mental health issues," his wife said.

Huw Edwards faces new allegations of sending inappropriate messages to BBC colleagues, it has been revealed, after his wife said he was at the centre of the explicit photos payment scandal.

The BBC presenter facing allegations he paid a young person thousands of pounds for sexually explicit photos is Huw Edwards, the BBC reported on Wednesday, citing a statement from his wife.

The BBC presenter is said to be receiving in-hospital care in a dramatic twist in the cash for sex pictures scandal.

Some MPs are reportedly considering using parliamentary privilege to unmask the suspended BBC star at the centre of the controversy.

Rishi Sunak has said he does not know which BBC presenter has been suspended from the corporation after being accused of paying for nude photographs of a young person.
