to still be in gaza. hamas was presented with a proposal for a further release of hostages last week and just today has responded. the details of that response are not yet clear. the us secretary of state antony blinken is on a whirlwind tour of the middle east, meeting the leaders who are trying to broker that deal.he first landed in cairo, where he met egypt s president, abdel fatah al sisi. he then flew to doha, where he met the emir and the prime minister, sheikh mohammed al thani. at a press conference afterwards, mr blinken gave an update on the negotiations we are reviewing that response now, and i will be discussed we re reviewing that response now and i ll be discussing it with the government of israel tomorrow. there s still a lot of work to be done, but we continue to believe that an agreement is possible and indeed essential, and we will continue to work relentlessly to achieve it. with me is our state department correspondent, tom bateman. to be know anything
