50% of BC adults fully protected against COVID-19 SHARE ON: (Files by Brendan Pawliw – My Prince George Now) BC Health Officials are reporting 47% of residents 12 and up along with half of all eligible adults (50.5) have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, 80.3% of eligible adults and 79.3% of those 12+ have gotten their first jab. Forty-one new infections were reported today (Wednesday), including two in Northern Health, and 16 in Interior Health. There are 639 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, 28 of them are in our health region. In addition, 65 people are battling the virus in hospital, 11 of which are in intensive care.

B.C. has now seen 116,075 total cases since the onset of the pandemic. “It is important to keep in mind that of the people we are seeing every day – whether at work, running errands or outside – someone is likely to have COVID-19. The more people we see, the higher that likelihood will be. That is why staying small and staying local is key right now,” said Provincial Health Officer Doctor Bonnie Henry.

BC health officials to give updated COVID-19 epidemiological modelling today

BC Health Officials are scheduled to provide a live COVID-19 update on Thursday afternoon, including new epidemiological modelling. The update comes amidst a spike in COVID-19 cases, with 1,168 announced on Wednesday. There have been six new deaths, for a total of 1,521 in British Columbia. There are 8,728 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 14,602 people under public health monitoring due to identified exposure to known cases. Of the active cases, 397 individuals are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 120 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation. To date, 1,190,832 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca-SII COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in BC, 87,820 of which are second doses.
