TRENTON, New Jersey ─Today, the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Fish and Game Council reinstated its controversial black bear trophy hunt.

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife has recommendations for keeping bears from entering into populated areas.

Sarah Dietl watched her Shih Tzu chase a bear cub up a tree only for its mother to emerge and maul her hand, head and torso. Dietls scalp needed 15 staples.

A man was left seriously injured after he was attacked by a sloth bear in a forest area in Tamil Nadu. Two people who tried to rescue him were also seriously injured and are undergoing treatment at a local hospital, the police said.

Wardens say the victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after the attack Wednesday evening and discharged from Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

This is the second report of a bear attack in Vermont on record this year.

A black bear has been euthanized after it attacked a Tennessee rental home. The tourist was injured with gashes on his face, top of the head, and on his back.

The Wyoming hunter shot one his legs which he used to prevent the grizzly bear from completely overwhelming him.

'She was just walking along and apparently a bear had jumped out at her,' according to authorities.

The woman encountered the bear after she let her dog out.
