The bear who mauled a woman at her New Castle home has been killed by local police, along with one of her three cubs.

The polar bear had to be put down after officials found it "badly injured" after it shot at the animal in an attempt to scare it away from the womans tent.

Officials said the victim "did everything right" and that they are thankful hes recovering from the encounter.
