LONDON: Irish author Paul Lynch won on Sunday the Booker Prize 2023 for fiction for his novel Prophet Song, a dystopian work about an Ireland that descends into tyranny.

Paul Lynch was last night crowned 2023's Booker Prize winner. We spoke to head judge Esi Edugyan to find out what goes on behind the scenes.

While judges Prophet Song as  propulsive and unsparing, critics have been less warm, branding it the weakest book on the shortlist  that wont stand the test of time.

Irish Booker prize winner Paul Lynch has said he was “astonished” by violent disturbances on the streets of Dublin last week, but this kind of behaviour is “always under the surface”.

Paul Lynch is the fifth Irish writer to win the Booker Prize in its 54-year history. Prophet Song is his fifth novel which narrates the story of protagonist Eilish Stack, who struggles to protect her family in Ireland slowly tipping into totalitarianism. Know about him in detail.
