Campers asked to move 25 feet from Bellingham City Hall KOMO News Staff © Provided by KOMO-TV Seattle BELLINGHAM, Wash, - Bellingham City Public Works crews are asking people camping outside of City Hall to move 25 feet away from the building. Crews began creating a 25-foot fire protection area around City Hall on Jan. 19 by posting signs and speaking with individuals in the camp. The fire protection area is being created by the Fire Marshall, similar to the fire protection area created around Bellingham’s Central Library last month. Bellingham Mayor Seth Fleetwood released the following statement on the encampment:  We seek a peaceful end to the encampment. If there is confrontation, we are not the aggressors. Most campers have not complied with our request to create a 25-foot fire and safety area.
