For us to continue to ensure a successful community here in Bemidji, we have to resist the temptation to just discuss, argue, spin and do nothing. There is simply too much long-range risk in comfortable inaction.

Community members see hospitality tax for Sanford Center as 'last resort'

Census data will be critical to Bemidji Alliance's visioning initiative

BEMIDJI -- While an effort to map out Bemidji's future remains stalled by the coronavirus pandemic, locals will be assisted with the charting by the 2020 U.S. Census.
The effort, titled Envision Bemidji 2030, was first launched by the Bemidji Alliance in late 2019. The organization is made up of the Bemidji Area Chamber of Commerce, the Bemidji Downtown Alliance, Greater Bemidji Economic Development and Visit Bemidji.
Otter Tail Power Foundation supports Bemidji entities
In 2020, the Otter Tail Power Co. Foundation provided dollars and rebates for local organizations, such as Greater Bemidji and the Headwaters Regional Science Center.

BEMIDJI -- The Otter Tail Power Co. Foundation provided more than $353,000 to communities throughout its 70,000 square-mile service area in 2020, including the Bemidji region.
According to Otter Tail Power Public Relation Specialist Kayla Johnson, donations to individual projects can range from $500 to $50,000 depending on the project. In Bemidji, Otter Tail provided dollars for BSU scholarships and to the Sanford Health Foundation of Northern Minnesota to support the provider's heart and vascular center.
