Gallery pops up at Wort
Jackson Hole native Melchor Moore was showing his artwork in Portland, Oregon, when an article in a periodical there referred to his style as âfauvist with an impressionistâs eye,â referring to his bold use of colors and the way he captured light and action and emotion in his human subjects.
Today, however, he embraces the term âWestern rococo,â as the Gallery and Studio Arts Journal of Manhattan, New York, described the barrel racers and bucking broncos he painted in bright colors and asymmetrical lines.
Invent your own label for Mooreâs florid, densely painted acrylics at a pop-up gallery from 1 to 7 p.m. today at The Wort Hotel.
