At the April 19 Jackson County Board of Education meeting, Ripley High School sophomore Grant Parsons was credited with averting possible danger in school bus gun incident.

At the March 3 meeting of the Jackson County Board of Education, a new superintendent of schools was hired. The decision to hire William Hosaflook was unanimous.

The Feb. 17 meeting of the Jackson County Board of Education saw an unusual sight. Dozens of parents and students attended the meeting due to the mask mandate discussion.

After receiving a standing ovation, Hess said he appreciated the sentiment. “But I’m not taking the foot off the pedal,” he said. “We’ve got a lot to accomplish in the next few months.”
