Little Evie Johnson Richardson is such a happy baby, you’d never guess what a traumatic start she had to life, or just what a miracle it is she is here in the first place.
The smiley nine-month-old girl’s mum is Drogheda woman Maria McCabe, who as someone with Spina Bifida, beat all the odds to have Evie last summer.
‘She was born right in the heart of lockdown on May 29th last year, and it’s mad to think that we’re still not out of it yet, says Maria, who has been a great campaigner for rights for people in wheelchairs for years. ‘She was also a total surprise, as it is extremely rare for someone with my condition to get pregnant and give birth, so yes, I suppose she is our little miracle!’
