Gor Mahia’s trophy ceremony was preceded by a 1-1 draw against Posta Rangers at the Kenyatta Stadium on Saturday in Sportpesa Premier League Champions.
Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay crowned a successful season when he was named April Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month Award winner. It marks his second award. He was also named SJAK winner in February. Its a deserved award as Oktay was the first coach to steer a Kenyan team past the group stages of the Africa cup.
Oktay also deserves plaudits for keeping the team calm and focused amid player revolts and other issues that plagued the playing unit this season.

“To our players who defied all the odds, we say thank you for your outstanding display, you made us proud and you stood tall at the hour of need,” Gor Mahia secretary-general Sam Ochola told the players after returning from Zambia.
“Thank you so much, let's now focus on the league to make it 19 titles this season because we’ll be back in continental football after fixing our nagging problems, a mission we have embarked on today.”

"Okumbi has been given a free-hand regarding team structuring and the management is doing its best to ensure his wishes are granted. A few more changes are coming before the short transfer window is closed."
The team has made several signings already to bolster the squad and ensure the team gets positive results consistently.
The latest signings are Alex Dunga Luganji who joins the team from the National Super League side Nairobi Stima. Rising Star Steiner Musasia and Josphat Lopaga.
The Mailmen also signed midfielder Bernard Ondiek from Gor Mahia a couple of days ago.
The veteran player found it hard to break into the K'Ogalo first team and opted to try his fortune elsewhere. The Mailmen jumped on the opportunity and brought him on board.

Gor Mahia are likely to face a tough Premier League title defence given that they have lost three games; a 2-1 loss against Tusker, a 4-3 outcome against Kariobangi Sharks and a surprising 1-0 loss to struggling Vihiga United.
In the last three matches, however, they have managed to score nine goals - against Mathare United, Western Stima and Zoo FC.

Recently, Gor Mahia have been changing coaches almost every season regardless of their success on the pitch and Steven Polack left the Kenyan champions at the end of the abandoned 2019/20 season.
They eventually settled for Roberto Oliveira as his successor, who was dismissed for failing to get accreditation from the Confederation of African Football. Posta Rangers' Sammy Omollo had to come in as stand-in coach and Patrick Odhiambo has been serving on an interim basis - as a result, the players are tactically confused.

“Then, of course, Bernard Ondiek also, long-term injury and he was not with us in Algeria so those are the main concerns we have in terms of players.”
On the return of captain Kenneth Muguna, who missed the first leg fixture owing to injury, ‘Pamzo’ said: “I like how Muguna trained because when we went to Algeria he was not there but I saw him yesterday [Monday], and today [Tuesday] he looks sharper and he looks hungry to perform on Wednesday.

"These players are very strong; they came into the match and struggled to get into the match. They had not trained at all and were really under difficult circumstances coming into the game.
"They gave their best against a very good and organised team and their fight on the pitch was evident. They deserve respect."
The Kenyan champions looked shaky at the back and struggled to stop the attacks by their hosts. The Posta Rangers coach has refused to blame his defenders for the goals conceded.
"If you look keenly on the way we conceded the goals, it was from individual mistakes," Omollo continued.
