After the success of the first virtual Arab film festival held last year, the organisers are all set for the second such event this year, to be held in May.
Titled Cinemana Arab Film Festival, the virtual film festival is being organised by the General Union of Arab Artists through its chapter in Oman.
The festival will feature a competition in three categories of films, namely documentary, short fiction and animation with a call for entries now open.
Dr Khaled Al Zadjali, Vice President of the General Union of Arab Artists and Director of the second Cinemana Festival for Arab Film, announced that the juries have been selected for the three categories of film competition.
Brunswick teacher and writer wins Maine Chapbook Series 2020
Brandon Dudley s book Hazards of Nature: Stories was selected out of nearly 60 submissions and will be published in 2021.

BRUNSWICK A local teacher has been named the winner of the Maine Chapbook Series, an annual competition put from the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance that highlights emerging Maine writers and poets.
The organization awarded Brandon Dudley $500 and will publish and promote his submission “Hazards of Nature: Stories.”
Dudley, a former journalist for a newspaper in the Baltimore area, is a high school English teacher in Brunswick, where he lives with his wife and two sons.

South Asian Feminist Fim Festival Spotlights Success and Tragedy SAFFF 2020
The South Asian Feminist Film Festival (SAFFF 2020), curated and organised by Kriti Film Club in collaboration with Sangat held virtually from November 27 to November 29, screened 29 short and long films, fiction and documentary, focussing on issues related to women across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Israel, Nepal and Afghanistan.
However, the selection was not confined to women filmmakers alone and a few films directed by men also featured at the festival. Over 20000 hits and almost 4000 people are reported by the organizers who watched the film spread out over the entire day peppered with panel discussions on varied areas of women’s cinema.
