Pieris Architects design for Aetheria Heights’ Plaza, refers to the unique climatic conditions of the location and reinvents Mediterranean living based entirely on the use of natural resources and zero waste policies. The penguins generation is on the verge of extinction due to climate change. The presence of ice is vital for the penguins to live and lay eggs. penguins protection system consists of: 1. IGLOO (Inspired by penguins huddle) Emperor penguins breed during the cold Antarctic winter where temperatures can reach -30C and below. To conserve energy and protect themselves from the cold, they adopt a behavioral strategy of huddling close together in large groups. 2. Porous space (inspired by sea sponges) under which the pendulum structure moves by sea waves and provides the electricity needed to operate the cooling system. This system is independent in nature and, when needed, smartly separates and moves towards them by identifying melting ice areas.
Bow Exchange is a mixed-use scheme designed by Architects pH+ for client City & Suburban Homes, located on the Limehouse Cut Canal in London. The proposals for the site include the demolition and replacement of the existing 2 to 3 story industrial warehouse buildings, with a new building ranging from 4 to 9 stories providing high-quality workspace at ground and mezzanine levels and 92 residential units above. The scheme has been carefully developed to respond to the varied character of the existing and emerging urban context, referencing the materiality and robustness of the industrial wharves that line this area of the Limehouse Cut.
