HCC Brings Home The Gold In Virtual CASE District III Award Ceremony

Hopkinsville Community College took home some gold awards during the CASE District III virtual awards ceremony. College officials said their advancement, public relations, and marketing team took home the awards in the Fundraising on a Shoestring category during the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) awards Thursday night. HCC was one of only three community colleges receiving an award and the only community college in District III, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, to receive a Gold Award. According to CASE, the category won by HCC is designed for offices with limited staff, resources, and/or time. Entries should demonstrate resourcefulness and creativity by executing a fundraising initiative, activity, or event that had noteworthy, measurable outcomes.

Local YMCA Hosts Annual Meeting

Mack Major The Hopkinsville-Christian County Family YMCA hosted their annual meeting virtually Thursday afternoon to update the community on their impact during the COVID-19 pandemic and hand out awards. Previous Chief Volunteer Officer Mack Major told board members revenue was down during the 2020 fiscal year. Major added those grants helped the YMCA expand their feeding program and get the correct certification to conduct daycare services. The year’s expenses were down about 16-percent, but the net-revenue was up from 2019 due to the various grants and PPP funding.

Photo submitted Dec 30, 2020 Dec 30, 2020 More athletes than ever participated in an Exclusive Masked 2020 Version of The Arc Special Olympics in late October. Photo submitted Masks and social distancing are the new norm with The Arc of Cumberland County. Promoting the well-being of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities  has always been The Arc’s mission and purpose. And the year 2020 has been no different in that respect. But because of the challenges brought about by the pandemic, The Arc has had to be creative in how it goes about usual activities in order to keep all safe and healthy.
