Months after firing 900 employees over a Zoom call, Better.com announced on Tuesday that it is laying off over 3,000 more employees.

Online homeownership company Better.com has stirred a hornet's nest all over again as CFO and Interim President Kevin Ryan announced in an internal communication that the company is streamlining operations and reducing its workforce in the US and India markets in a substantial way.

Indian-American CEO Vishal Garg-run digital mortgage company Better.com on Wednesday started laying off thousands of employees in the US and India who received severance cheques in the payroll app.

Better.com has employees around the world, including in the US and India.

Vishal Garg-led company was expected to announce layoffs on March 9 but instead of announcing it officially, the employees were informed about layoffs via severance checks.

Better.com promised Career Transition Services for future employment. This includes career coaching, a new resume as well as job search support.

Some Better employees woke up with 60 days' pay on Tuesday. It wasn't a bonus, it was severance — and the first sign that they'd lost their jobs.
