Coronavirus patients dying due to lack of oxygen no less than genocide , Indian court says

Share on Twitter Deaths of COVID-19 patients due to a lack of medical oxygen is a criminal act and not less than a genocide, the Allahabad High Court in India s most populous state of Uttar Pradesh said on Tuesday. Local media reports a two-justice bench of the state s top court made the observation during a hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the coronavirus situation in Uttar Pradesh, one of India s worst-affected states during the devastating second wave. READ MORE “Death of Covid patients just for non supplying of oxygen to the hospitals is a criminal act and not less than a genocide by those who have been entrusted the task to ensure continuous procurement and supply chain of the liquid medical oxygen,” the court said citing social media videos showing people begging for oxygen tanks and others hoarding them.

WA govt criticised for discussing Indian man s wedding

Share on Twitter Members of the Indian-Australian community have expressed outrage over the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic by both the West Australian and Federal government. They have also raised concerns over the WA Premier Mark McGowan discussing the circumstances of a man at the centre of the latest COVID-19 outbreak. The West Australian first published details of the man last week, revealing he’d travelled to get married in India last December before returning in April and testing positive for the virus while in hotel quarantine in Perth.  Related When asked by the paper about the man’s situation, the Department of Home Affairs said it does comment on individual cases.
