territory. recount for toir is where we remain. this is the beat. we are joined by steve kornacki working the big board. i want to start where we always start at times like this with a lot of open questions. this is the big open question. who is going to be the republican nominee for the u.s. senate in pennsylvania. who is going to take on john fetterman. you can see mehmet oz leading right now. that margin over david mccormick for him is just over 1,500 votes. basically from this morning until now that margin has been cut in a third basically. it was about 2,400 this morning. now it s down to 1,500. so mccormick has gotten a little closer. but he still has a ways to go. there aren t a ton of votes left. what we can tell you about in terms of where there are votes left in pennsylvania, number one is allegheny county. pittsburgh area, they say the votes that are left here were probably not going to get those reported out until monday.
think is a big open question. the precedent has been in the case of hillary clinton there were no charges filed. i think you will hear that from the trump folks but i think you will have former white house officials getting questions about specifically who knew what and the question is how close that gets to the former president. maggie, the former head of the national archives said when they saw trump leaving the white house the day of biden s inauguration there were aides carrying these stacks of boxes, banker boxes and said he wondered what the hell was in those boxes i believe was his quote to the washington post. what are you hearing from people in the former president s orbit about what they believe happened with these documents, why they took them and what all was included. there is a lot of speculation right now, there are not a lot of answers yet. what certainly seems to be clear is that the former president knew through the course of the year roughly that he had them, a
before the committee. now, the big open question here is, the form and fashion in which they seek that cooperation. the committee s done this in a variety of different ways. sometimes they send a letter asking for voluntary cooperation. they ve done that with sean hannity, for instance, and a few members of congress. other times, they just go straight to the subpoena route and issue that subpoena that would legally force someone to hand over documents and then meet for a deposition. at this point, thompson says they are just reviewing the process and talking through the process before making a final decision as to how they are going to reach out to giuliani, but the key point here, victor and alisyn, is that they are interested in talking to giuliani. they view him as an integral part of their investigation. it now just seems as a matter of when and how they go through that process. ryan, the question is, then, how successful, regardless of how they reach out, whether it s a request
it came from research that was done quite a while ago, specifically in unvaccinated people and before omicron. the reason this is important is it appears that vaccinated people clear the virus a lot faster compared to unvaccinated people. omicron, the incubation is shorter. it passes through your system much faster. we really need to see the data. do not let perfect be the enemy of the good. if people are not getting tested for fear of testing positive, if you shorten the isolation period you might convince a lot more people to get tested and comply with isolation as opposed to the situation we re in now. that is a big open question that i would hope the federal government does not wait until they get perfect data. sometimes if you wait for perfect to be the enemy of the good, you are really prolonging
